SUBJECT: Tactical Report of Mission, 17 April 1944
TO: Commanding General, Eighth Air Force, AAF 101, APO 634.
1. Data.
a. Date of Mission - 17 April 1944.
b. Primary Target - Wizernes - Noball
c. Secondary Target - None.
a. Last Resort Target - None.
c. Units Participating - 96th CBW (467th BG).
2. Narrative.
a. The 467th Bomb Group dispatched ten aircraft led by five GH ships, each leading a three ship element, to attack the Noball target at Wizernes. One Group of P-47's gave excellent fighter support.
b. Assemblies were accomplished without incident and the route to the target was flown as briefed.
c. Runs were made as briefed. hindered by a severe turbulence due to a frontal discontinuity. Results were unobserved due to a 10/10 overcast. GH equipment was reported as working satisfactorily.
d. Flak was meager and inaccurate in the target are, but intense and accurate at Ypres. No enemy aircraft were seen and the losses and claims are nil.
